Motorola just
launched software updates for three of their most selling devices; the Moto G series. The Moto G (1st Gen), Moto
G (2nd Gen) and Moto G (3rd
Gen) have faced quite a few issues and Motorola has now released the update
that tends to the problems faced by the users. The common Stagefright issue
inflicted all three smartphones and this update takes care of it. Along with
that, the update brings some stability changes, camera changes [Moto G (3rd
Gen) only] and some bug fixes as well.
Let’s take a look at some of the changes that the new
updates bring.
Stagefright
Security Vulnerability:
Closes a potential security vulnerability that involves the
mechanisms used to retrieve a message sent via the Multimedia Messaging Service
(MMS).
Stability
Improvements:
Includes changes that fix bugs and improve the stability of
your phone.
Night Mode (Camera): Moto G (3rd Gen)
Adds the night mode option to the Motorola Camera application
where necessary (some phones in some regions did not have it enabled in the
initial production software). This mode allows you to take a picture in very
low light with less risk of motion-induced blur (at a reduced 5MP image size).
Lockscreen:
Moto G (1st Gen)
If you have enabled Ambient
Display, the minimum swipe distance has increased to reduce accidental
interactions.
Heads-up
Notifications: Moto G (1st Gen)
In addition to dismissing a
heads-up notification, you can now swipe it up to remove it from your screen.
It will remain in your notifications tray and you can dismiss it later.
Along with these changes, the
Moto G (1st Gen) gets alarm clock and performance upgrades.
How to install the
patch successfully:
First thing you have to make sure of is that your Moto
G device has 50% or more battery life.
Then ensure that you are connected to a
stable Wi-Fi network.
