The Chinese Apple Connection

China is famous for a lot of things, whether it is the fact that nowadays, everything seems to be made in Chine, or their burgeoning population. However, investors see China as a classic investment destination, as this is a country where the potential for growth is immense. It is little wonder then that even small names and new entrants in different sectors are flourishing in China. Success seems to follow every other new launch. Mobile phones don’t speak a different story, as sales of smartphones in China are through the roof. However, one particular player who is enjoying unbeatable success in the Asian market is Apple.

The American giant is a household name in the Asian market, with China in specific being known for their craze of Apple products. People wait in anticipation of new launches and whether it is the latest iPhone or iPad, China laps it up like no other country. This fact hasn’t been lost on Tim Cook, who claims that China is perhaps one of its most optimistic markets, as Apple has recorded a 75% increase year over year sales, with the last quarter in particular shining through thanks to the good reception of the much anticipated iPhone 6, Apple’s key product that sported the latest mobile specifications. This is in stark contrast to the 4% decline that China has seen in recent times in its sales and industrial growth, which prompted the Asian giant to take the drastic measure of devaluing its currency.

So, what comes next for Apple in China? Well, there is one highly awaited New launch. Mobile phones enthusiasts have been waiting for the iPhone 6s for a while and the elite believe they deserve an upgrade to the latest iPhone offering from Apple. What’s more, unlike last year, Apple has worked hard to ensure that the lucrative Chinese market isn’t ignored this time around, as it has scheduled a simultaneous launch of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus in China, as in the U.S. This means the American and Chinese public, both will be able to get their hands on the new iPhone device, sporting the latest mobile specifications at the same time, which is a first for Apple. China is also a lucrative market because there is growing 4G penetration in this country, a facility which only flagship smartphones offer. This has further aided Apple’s growth in China, as it anticipated the 4G penetration way before it actually happened.

Tim Cook is clearly a worthy successor of Steve Jobs, as he has the same acumen and shrewdness for business as the Apple scion who honed the company from scratch. Apple has managed to be a step ahead in the game all this time, ensuring its success in one of the biggest technological markets in the world. China is just one piece in the huge world map acquisition that Apple is aiming for and at the rate it’s going, it seems to be on the right track.
