When smartphones
entered the world and our hearts and hands, one of the top contenders were
BlackBerry. Initially tagged as the “businessman” phone, it was never revered
to as a user friendly device for the common people. But when the Curve, Bold
and Storm series entered the market, all conceptions were changed. BlackBerry
was no longer a boring old business phone, it had class. Carrying its signature
QWERTY keypad, the devices sold like hot cakes and were soon becoming an
international hit.
As the times went on, so did the users and the world started
noticing that the BlackBerry OS that was offered was not to their liking
because there was a limited amount that people could do with their devices. This
is when they turned to Android and iOS which gave them the freedom to do much
more. It might have taken some time, but it looks like the company has finally
given into the pressures or requests of their beloved users and it seems like
they are about to present their very first android powered phone.
Rumored to be called “Venice”, this BlackBerry device can be
the latest mobile phone news and a
real jaw dropper if and when launched. Keeping to their signature style, the
BlackBerry Venice will sport a QWERTY keypad which slides out from under a 5.4
inched QHD touchscreen display. Below the slide out keypad lies a speaker that
can be seen even when the slider is pulled down. The earphone jack appears to
be on the bottom right and the USB port seems to be beside that, according to
the leaked pictures. There is a hexa-core Snapdragon processor that has been
clocked in at 1.8 GHz. The RAM is an impressive 3GB which gives the device a
smooth and hassle free user experience. For all the camera buffs out there, you
will be happy to know that the BlackBerry Venice houses a really good 18
megapixel camera at the back and an equally brilliant 5 megapixel camera in
front for unlimited selfie fun.
Although the news that BlackBerry is taking the android
route should be exciting news, some people still seem to be asking why the
phone would need two keypads (the physical and the touchscreen). We may not
have the actual reason but according to leaks through the company, the
touchscreen keypad should be used for light work like sending texts and
browsing while the physical keypad should be used for heavier use like mailing
and so on. Whatever be the reason, this could be a breakthrough in smartphone
manufacturing for the almost forgotten company. We will wait patiently to see what
the BlackBerry Venice brings to all of us.
